Service opportunity - become a Snow Buddy

Posted on Nov 17 2019 - 1:49pm

My name is Ian Sterne, I am the Emergency Preparedness Manager for
Volunteer Alexandria. I run the Snow Buddy Program. We match low income
elderly and disabled Alexandria residents with volunteers to help remove
snow from their walkways and sidewalks. Allowing the residents to easily
get out of their homes so they can get to doctor appointments and run
errands. I thought this might be a good volunteering opportunity for your
scouts. This volunteering can be done as individuals or whole families. I
try to match volunteers as close as I can with residents who have requested
assistance. Last winter we helped over 60 Alexandria families deal with the
snow. If you would like more information about the program you can check
out our website www.volunteeralexandria.org/snow or e-mail me back.
